Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge connects Hong Kong, Macao and Zhuhai, including tunnels, bridges, artificial islands and other structural forms. It is one of the most technically complex projects, with the highest environmental protection requirements and the highest construction requirements and standards in the history of traffic construction in China. It is also one of the major challenging projects in the world. As a milestone in China's transition from a big bridge country to a strong bridge country, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge is honored as the “Mount Qomolangma” in the bridge industry and one of the “Seven Wonders of the Modern World” by the British media “The Guardian”.
Main Work Undertaken
As the third-party testing agency for project quality control, JSTI has been fully involved in the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Project since the end of 2010. During the civil engineering implementation of the main project of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, JSTI undertakes the test and inspection of engineering raw materials, finished products, semi-finished products of structures and engineering entities that are subject to random inspection by the Employer and the Engineer.
Innovation Points
The design service life of bridge concrete structure generally is 100 years, but in marine environment, its service life is much lower than the design life, and the premature attenuation and failure of service life of marine concrete have become a worldwide problem. Breaking the “centennial practice”, Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge has formulated the design standard of 120-year service life. The Testing and Inspection Center set up a durability quality control team to improve the durability quality of concrete.
Achievements
Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Main Project Testing and Inspection Center is the first site laboratory in Guangdong Province and even the national transportation industry that has passed the metrological certification.
